Terry Couto, Founding Partner
Terry has more than 30 years of experience in the mortgage industry, serving in such executive positions as chief financial officer, controller and consultant. Broad responsibilities have resulted in a unique combination of very strong finance/accounting knowledge, extensive operational experience (particularly in capital markets, retail origination and servicing areas) and extensive mergers and acquisitions experience. Prior to Newbold, Terry was CFO at companies including Market Street Mortgage, GE Capital Mortgage Insurance, GE Capital Mortgage Services and Citizens Mortgage Corporation. Terry has an MBA in Finance from Georgia State University and a BS in Accounting from the University of Alabama.
Tim Gaven, Founding Partner
Tim has more than 30 years of experience in the capital markets and consulting industries throughout Europe and North America. Focusing largely on operations, his experience includes roles at Capco, HSBC, Bear Stearns and Co., Securities Industry Automation Corp., and Tucker Anthony. Tim has an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a BA in Business Administration from Rutgers University.
Dan Reiman, Founding Partner
Dan has more than 25 years of experience in the mortgage and consulting industries. Focusing largely on technology, his experience includes roles at Fannie Mae, GE Capital, Fleet Mortgage, Black Knight Financial Services (LPS), Destiny Consulting and Exigen Group. Dan has an MBA from George Mason University and a BA in History from the University of North Carolina.
Michael Wade, Partner
Michael has more than 30 years of mortgage industry experience, serving in senior management positions in loss mitigation, origination underwriting, repurchase management, operational risk management, credit policy and counter-party risk. Before Newbold, Michael was an SVP at Chase Home Lending and chief underwriter for the Servicing and Loss Mitigation divisions. He previously served in leadership roles focused on credit policy and operational risk at Freddie Mac and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Michael earned a BA in Business Law from the American University in Washington, DC. Michael is an avid cyclist and “wanna be” chef.
Chad Moyer, Partner
Chad has more than 20 years of experience in the staffing and consulting industry, with expertise in managing business and recruiting development teams. Prior to joining Newbold, Chad successfully managed multiple IT recruiting and sales teams, covering Raleigh/Durham, NC, and Northeast Florida, plus had oversight on enterprise financial services and fintech companies. Chad earned his BS from Eastern Illinois University. An avid outdoorsman, Chad enjoys running, fishing and boating. He also loves to travel and is obsessed with UNC Basketball.
Arleen Scavone, Principal
Arleen, previous Founder and CEO of mortgage advisory firm OpExNow, has a 30-year track record of building and managing operations, sales and service organizations in both corporate-held and entrepreneur roles. Her expertise includes enabling operational excellence through executing transformation in large and small mortgage originations and servicing organizations. She specializes in LOS implementations, large-scale servicing system conversions and Program Management Offices for transformation projects. Prior to her decade of running OpExNow, Arleen held leadership positions at Washington Mutual, First Bank, Great Western Bank and HomeFed Bank. Arleen also is a passionate, life-long baker at heart, achieving an unprecedented three-peat win on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars after opening her first Sweet Arleen’s cupcake store in Westlake Village, CA. She remains an advisor to the Sweet Arleen’s brand and speaks nationally at business, women and youth foundations. Arleen also is a frequent speaker at CUNA, MBA and regional conferences.
Shari Harrison, Chief Financial Officer
Shari has more than 30 years of experience in accounting, serving as Newbold’s Chief Financial Officer since 2007. Shari oversees contract administration, financial statements, treasury management and accounting, and employee relations. Before Newbold, Shari was controller at Market Street Mortgage. She was involved with a management buyout at Eckerd Corporation, and was an accountant with Price Waterhouse for five years prior. A Certified Public Accountant, Shari earned a BS degree in Accounting from the University of Florida, and her Masters of Accounting from Florida State University.
Sally S. Bartholmey, Esq., Chief Legal Officer and HR Executive
Sally brings 30 years of legal experience and mortgage industry experience in capital markets, originations and servicing operations to Newbold’s senior management team. She serves as Newbold’s general counsel and leads the development of Newbold’s strategies on enterprise risk management and human resources. Early in her career, she worked in private law firms representing financial institutions. Later, she went “in-house” to hold legal and regulatory compliance roles including positions within Market Street Mortgage and GE Capital Mortgage Services. More recently, she served as the director of Mediation Strategy and Deployment for Fannie Mae. An attorney licensed in both Florida and Texas, Sally received a BA in Economics from the University of Dallas and her JD from the University of Houston Law Center. Her hobbies include golfing, cycling and skiing.
Monica Lee, Senior Director, Recruiting
Monica leads Newbold’s recruiting and sourcing team for consulting, direct hire, and contract resources. She has more than 20 years of experience in the staffing and consulting industry focused on mortgage, financial services and technology talent. Prior to joining Newbold, Monica was responsible for building and leading successful recruiting teams as well as managed national client and consulting accounts to include several Top 5 banks. Monica enjoys cooking, gardening, collecting craft supplies (and occasionally putting them to use), and boating, fishing and hunting with her family.
